Zenith has made it two wins in a week, just hours after landing the combined ZPG business, it has scooped the media account of Lloyds Banking Group – the largest retail bank in the UK – following a competitive pitch.
The Publicis Groupe agency beat off incumbent MediaCom, ending a 12-year relationship with WPP. It will now handle media planning and buying for all of the group’s brands, including Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, Scottish Widows and MBNA.
It is understood that Publicis’ data business Epsilon played a major role in the win after Lloyds praised the group’s media, digital and data capabilities.
Digital transformation and consulting division Publicis Sapient already has a longstanding relationship with Lloyds Banking Group.
Lloyds chief customer officer Catherine Kehoe said: “The media landscape is undergoing rapid change and brands need the most advanced thinking in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with audiences. We were very impressed by the media, digital and data capabilities of Zenith and look forward to working with them.”
“I’d like to thank both MediaCom and Group M, with whom we have worked successfully for several years, for their dedication and support. They have been a hugely valued partner.”
Zenith UK chief executive Natalie Cummins added: ‘‘Lloyds Banking Group came to us with a big but simple challenge, about navigating a vastly changed media world. We had a single-minded approach, proved out over the course of the review.”
Havas CX Helia has handled CRM since 2019, bringing the curtain down on the finance giant’s eight-year relationship with Proximity London. Adam & Eve DDB handles the advertising.
