Medialab brings in gang of four to top executive team

Independent agency Medialab is continuing to beef up to its leadership team and strategic capabilities with four new key appointments designed to reinforce the business’ ongoing growth and client success.

The appointments align with the agency’s commitment to delivering “innovative, data-driven solutions”, supporting its expanding client portfolio that includes major brands Sharps, Hovis, and Phoenix Group among others.

First up is Fiona Upham, who joins as AV business director, bringing over 10 years of experience in the strategic planning and execution of TV, video on demand (VoD), and cinema campaigns.

Previously holding a similar role at PHD, Upham’s expertise includes managing accounts for Volkswagen Group and Virgin. At Medialab, she will play a key leadership role to help deepen the agency’s independent position, working closely with broadcast director Steve Venes to deliver media solutions for clients.

Tom Howes, meanwhile, joins as head of search, having most recently worked at Dentsu. With well over a decade of experience, Howes has worked on high-profile accounts such as Emirates, Burberry, and Direct Line Group, where he led major initiatives like the integration of PPC and SEO into a holistic proposition.

Medialab says his expertise on all aspects of search will enhance the agency’s ability to deliver “exceptional digital solutions” for its diverse client base.

The third new hire is Phoebe Hood, who joins as business director with over 13 years’ experience, previously at iCrossing and Publicis, where she led significant campaigns for clients such as Unilever, Reckitt, and Barclays.

Hood’s expertise in digital transformation projects and social media strategy will be instrumental as Medialab continues to innovate in the ever-evolving media landscape.

Finally, John Dobbs has been appointed as business director. With 12+ years of experience at Total Media, his work has included driving year-on-year growth for MG and leading multi-channel campaigns for clients like E.ON Next and Greene King. Dobbs’ proficiency in brand and performance media will be pivotal in supporting Medialab’s focus on data-driven success.
