The managing director of REaD Group-owned The Data Agency, Dee Toomey, has left the business to pursue what the company described as “other opportunities”.
She had been at the firm since January 2007, joining as credit services manager from Acxiom, along with her former boss at both Consodata and Acxiom, Dawn Orr. The duo then launched the REaD Group’s Scientia Data division in 2009, with Toomey as client services director.
The division’s primary offering was Active – a lifestyle database the firm still runs containing offline and online ‘active’ UK consumers, all of whom have made a purchase within five months. Toomey moved up to MD when Orr left suddenly in January 2010.
The REaD Group folded Scientia when it brought all of its group companies – including REaD UK, Metamorphix, TRG Strata, Funnel and Cloud 9 – under one roof, rebranding the whole operation as The Data Agency.
Described by the company as “a simpler, faster and smarter way of working”, the move saw some of the DM industry’s best-known data services being rebranded, although the holding company continues to be called REaD Group plc.
Toomey’s departure coincides with a raft of new appointments at the REaD Group. Former Occam and St Ives chief Scott Logie joined earlier this month to head up a new insight division, ex-Communisis Data Intelligence boss Jon Cano-Lopez is now chief executive, and EuroDirect founder and former Callcredit chief Mike Green works on new business development.
